Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Visual Eyes the leading provider of vision care products and services in Huntingdon Valley.


Karen Wrigley, OD

Dr Wrigley, a native Philadelphian, was voted Philadelphia’s Optometrist of the Year twice. She has been in practice for over 30 years. Besides general eye health, she treats patients who have glaucoma, cataracts, keratoconus, macular degeneration and dry eyes.  Dr. Wrigley specializes in contact lenses, especially multifocal and difficult-to-fit cases. Her expertise includes fitting of rigid gas permeable lenses and scleral lenses.  She also specializes in myopia control to help stop the progression of nearsightedness in children and adults with medicine and/or special contact lenses like Orthokeratology and MiSight.

Dr Wrigley has been working as a consultant to the Philadelphia film industry designing special effects contact lenses and as a vision specialist and eye care consultant to the Phillies.

She stays active in the eye care community as a board member to the Philadelphia County Optometric Society and member of the PA and American Optometric Associations.  She is an auxiliary member of the VFW since her husband is a retired military officer.  She is also active in her local community as a committeewoman, helping neighbors navigate local government.


Micaela Small, OD

Dr. Micaela Small earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. She is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa honors fraternity and also served as the president of Gold Key honors society while in school. Upon graduation, Dr. Small completed her dual residency training in ocular disease and low vision at the West Haven VA Hospital in Connecticut.

Dr. Small’s clinical interests include myopia control, treatment and management of ocular diseases including glaucoma and macular degeneration as she strives to help people see their absolute best. Dr. Small’s father was a professional NFL player for the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons, which also sparked her interest in sports vision as well.

Originally from Georgia, Dr. Small currently resides in Warminster, PA with her family. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association (POA). In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.


Rick Spross – Manager/Optician

Born and raised locally in Bensalem, PA, Richard has always had a strong connection with the community and an understanding of the eclectic personalities inhabited within.  Rick’s career started in early 1972 working for his father, William Spross, in Frankford, PA. While working alongside his father, they both became State Licensed Opticians and continued his education to deliver nothing less than excellence to his customers.

In 2001, Rick joined partnership with Dr. Aaron Chasan and opened Visual Eyes in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Since then, Visual Eyes has been a staple to the community. Rick’s passion and vision has created opportunities locally through donations, volunteering time, resources and eyewear to various organizations.

Rick is a husband, father of three, grandfather to four and spends his free time in the outdoors riding his bike, flying kites and playing golf.


June Weiner – Optometric Technician/Front Desk

June is our long time, front desk receptionist and billing clerk. June is a South Philadelphia native and well known throughout the Huntingdon Valley community.  

She holds a M.Ed degree from Temple University and has taught at three local Junior colleges.  She is equipped with a diverse educational background and brings a unique blend of expertise to her position.

Her passion lies in ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all of our valued patients.

During a routine exam at Visual Eyes in 2001, she not only left with a new prescription, but also a part time job!

Spending time with her children and two grandchildren is primary.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, theatre, dance, good food and dining out; She also finds pleasure in interior decorating and design.  She is a dedicated fashionista and always follows the latest in fashion and design trends.


Tim Gray – Optician/Marketing

Starting his career while in college, Tim found his passion for the eye care industry when he was only nineteen years old.  As a part-time employee for a Fortune 500 corporate company, he soon became the youngest General Manager at just twenty years old. Nearly four years later, he moved on to better opportunity for his second corporate position, in which he managed and trained large staffs, Optometrists and multiple locations throughout Pennsylvania.

Tim has been certified as an Optometric Technician and achieved many awards for recognition for his success in growth of business and within the community.


Matt McKay – Front Desk Manager

Matt joined Visual Eyes in 2017.  He easily transitions from scheduling appointments, trouble shooting insurance claims and selecting the perfect eye wear for our patients.  His super friendly disposition was nurtured while he was an Early Childhood major at Montgomery County Community College.  Besides helping patients, Matt’s passion is music.  He is the lead singer and plays bass guitar for his band, Dead Wrong.  They just released their latest song, “Lie to Me”.   You can often catch Matt singing and humming his favorite tunes while working.


Lindsay Hall – Administrative Assistant

Lindsay joined Visual Eyes in 2021.  Lindsay’s background includes an associate’s degree in film and video from Bucks County Community College in 2005.  She then became the lead pharmacy technician at CVS for several years.  Lindsay pays attention to detail.  She keeps our schedule structured and our patient records organized.  She also enjoys collecting data from patients for our doctors.  She is also proficient in radiofrequency, a new dry eye and skin tightening treatment we have been offering.

Lindsay enjoys spending time with her two young sons and playing and watching soccer.


Sheryl Burke – Lab Technician

Sheryl grew up in Northeast Philadelphia where she graduated from St Hubert’s High School.  She has been working in the optical field for over 20 years.  She joined Visual Eyes in 2021 to help edge and craft our patients’ prescription eyeglasses.  She is efficient with an eye towards quality.  Sheryl makes sure the finished glasses are beautiful in form and function.

Outside of the practice, Sheryl enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her son, Owen.  She also enjoys getting to the gym regularly.


Bless – Ophthalmic Technician

Bless is our technician.  In 2018, she graduated from Salus University as a certified ophthalmic technician.  Before joining Visual Eyes in 2021, Bless worked at a retinal specialty practice. She will help our patients feel comfortable while gathering data for our doctors. Bless also assists in contact lens training classes for our new contact lens patients. Our patients will find her to be warm and outgoing.
